Rescue Mission Certification Program |
|
On September 17, 1913, thirty missions gathered together in New York City to establish the International Union of Gospel Missions (IUGM). In the year 2000, the name was changed to the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM). In his book, The Romance of Rescue, Dr. W. E. Paul lists the following as primary reasons for organizing the AGRM: • To develop higher standards of Gospel and Relief Work. • To distinguish the safe and sane Mission from the fanatic, enthusiast and solicitor Mission. Through this Certification Program, AGRM continues to fulfill these purposes by encouraging member missions to demonstrate a Christian commitment to good stewardship, financial accountability, and integrity. Today, as all Christian ministries are subject to increasing scrutiny by the public and the governmental bodies, rescue missions must be committed to a standard of excellence in all aspects of their ministries. Through this program the ministry’s leadership and staff participate in a very comprehensive management and organizational review. At the same time, it is an educational experience involving both directors and staff members in an organized evaluation of the following vital components of their ministry: • Federal,
state, and local regulations impacting facilities and operations In the first level of this program, member organizations meeting the acceptable “industry standards” for well-run rescue ministries are recognized as “Certified Missions.” In the second level and highest level of certification, the “Certificate of Excellence,” the AGRM recognizes those member ministries that are models of effective programming and operations, exemplifying the best of what rescue ministries can be in their service to God and to those in need. It is our hope that your experience in the AGRM Certification Program will be highly profitable.
